Good chess players and software developers have much in common. Both have the right training, the ability to apply that training to solve real world problems and a deep theoretical understanding of their field. My longstanding hobby of playing chess has honed my ability to holistically analyze a problem and methodically develop a solution considering both short and long-term consequences. I can combine these skills with my technical expertise to create scalable and secure cloud based IT solutions for your organization.
I started my career as a systems engineer at Infosys, where I worked for a Fortune 500 energy company to deliver an enterprise service bus solution. During this time, I learned how to put myself in my client's shoes to better understand their requirements and then work top-down towards the solution. Additionally, on job training programs like "Harvard ManageMentor" gave me an in-depth understanding of how to use my technical skills to create business value by optimizing existing processes. I'm confident that these experiences will help me create effective IT solutions for your organization.
I applied these skills at Vuclip - a media startup in the video-on-demand (VOD) space. I helped build VOD services that catered to over 50 million people across Asia, Middle East, and Africa. By automating repetitive database operations, I was able to cut down new product development time by 40%. This allowed us to rapidly scale up business operations from 16 to 36 products in a year. My efforts for resolving this long standing bottleneck earned praise from my peers. My work at Vuclip also introduced me to modern DevOps practices and microservices architecture.
Currently, as a master's student at Carnegie Mellon University, I'm learning more about developing scalable microservices based applications. My coursework at CMU includes cloud computing, distributed systems, devops, and big data analytics with Hadoop.
